Magistrale plekken

Onze wereld is vol schoonheid en bevat werkelijk magistrale plekken. Ik zou ze het liefst allemaal bezoeken. Het zijn er echter te veel om in één mensenleven ook daadwerkelijk te kunnen bezoeken en beschrijven in woord en vooral aan de hand van fotografische beelden.

Wat is het fijn om over bijzondere plaatsen op deze aarde anderen te informeren. Daarom begon ik als fotograaf en auteur in 2016 aan de gevarieerde serie ‘Roadtrips’ digitale multimediaboeken. Om zodoende ook mijn bijdrage hieraan te leveren. Interactieve boeken, met in een aantal uitgaven droneflights en videoclips. 

Zien en ervaren

Mijn doel is op ontdekkingstocht te gaan door Europese landen. Langs en door bekende en minder bekende plekken en plaatsen. Dorpjes en gehuchten ‘en route’ te ontdekken en in alle rust op mij te laten inwerken. Reizen is naar mijn gevoel vooral bewust proberen te beseffen waar je op een gegeven moment bent op deze hier en daar zo feeërieke aarde. Met eigen ogen zien! Zelf ervaren hoe bijzonder een bepaalde plek of plaats is. De geschiedenis ervan. 

Unesco Wereld Erfgoed

Waarom ik een jaar later een plek, of beter gezegd ‘een bepaalde streek’ nogmaals bezoek? Zoals ik deed voor dit boek. Het antwoord ligt voor de hand: omdat die omgeving zo adembenemend is en een onuitwisbare indruk op mij achterliet! Ik heb het over de Cinque Terre, vijf kleine dorpen die op de Unesco Wereld Erfgoedlijst staan. Authentiek en ongerept. Een smalle, paradijselijke Mediterrane streek van circa 10 kilometer, gelegen aan de kleurrijke Ligurische kust, deel uitmakend van de Italiaanse Rivièra. 

De Cinque Terre bevat schilderachtige dorpjes met huizen, naast en over elkaar heen gebouwd en kleurrijk beschilderd. Geel, roze, oker en blauw. Huizen, gelegen tussen bergketens, op hoge kliffen dicht langs de zee. Dát levert, naast spectaculaire vergezichten, uitdagende wandelroutes op! 

Ontdekkingstocht

Mijn ontdekkingstocht langs de dorpjes begon niet in Monterosso Al Mare, maar met de boot vanuit Portovenere. 

Oogstrelende streek

Mijn foto’s geven u een goede indruk van wat er zoal in de dorpjes van de Cinque Terre te zien is.

Magisterial places

Our world is full of beauty and contains truly magical places. I would prefer to visit them all. However, there are too many to actually be able to visit and describe in words and photographs in one human life. 

How nice it is to inform others about special places on earth. That is why I started as photographer and author in 2016 on a varied series of "Roadtrips" interactive digital multimedia books. 

See and experience

My goal is to go on a journey of discovery through European countries. Along and through well-known and less well-known places. Discovering villages and hamlets "en route". 

UNESCO World Heritage

Why do I visit a place, or rather "a certain region" a year later again? Like I did for this book. The answer is obvious: because that environment is so breathtaking and left an indelible impression on me! I'm talking about the Cinque Terre, five small villages on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Authentic and unspoiled. A narrow, paradisiacal Mediterranean region of approximately 10 kilometers, located on the colorful Ligurian coast, part of the Italian Riviera.

The Cinque Terre contains of five picturesque villages with houses, built next to and on top of each other and colorfully painted. Yellow, pink, ocher and blue. Houses, situated between mountain ranges, on cliffs and coves close to the sea. In addition to spectacular images, that provides challenging hiking routes! Along the fascinating terraced landscape and the turquoise sea on which the glint of the sun gives you such that wonderful and special feeling. All that makes it fairytale here. Especially with a delicious glass of white wine from this region with a light meal on the terrace of a restaurant, enjoying what is happening around you. And that's a lot! The noise of people, the sound of birds and sea waves breaking on the rocky coast.

Stunning region

My photographs give you a good impression of what you can see in the villages of the Cinque Terre. I enjoyed it and will certainly return in 2020 to this magical place on our earth: the Cinque Terre.
