A Tale of Heaven and Hell Through Time and Space
Jeremiah Cross uses the immortality of the angels (assuming they are not killed) to tell a tale in multiple places and times. There is the classic medieval-like Heaven when angels fight with swords, then the story moves to an antediluvian earth, and then to the modern world where guardian angels whisper in the ears of their human charges. They even venture into the abstract world of the human soul to do battle with the demons inside.
