I’m not looking for love.
Working by day as a therapist and by night as an exotic dancer, intimacy is…not my strong point. And Lucas is everything I don’t trust: oozing sex appeal, with women scattered in his wake, he’s too smooth and too charming to get involved with.
But I’m drawn toward him, despite my guarded heart…
It should have been easy.
A therapist moonlighting as a stripper? A ‘chance’ encounter couldn’t have been easier to arrange.
I just needed some answers. Someone to blame.
I didn’t expect her to be quite so tantalising.
I didn’t expect to want to get close to her.
But secrets are hard to keep when you get close to someone...
Gripping, sizzling, full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked til the last page.
*NB this book explores complex themes around mental health. It is written by a mental health clinician and has been described as “beautifully nuanced” with “the observation of the human psyche…written flawlessly in this dark yet twisted romance.”
This is the first book in the Close Series by Fen Wilde.

Clara is a therapist by day and a stripper by night. When hot Lucas comes into the club the sparks fly. Two emotionally broken people trying to make a connection. Can it happen or will they both clam up?
I’m pleasantly surprised by the intellectual aspect of the story. It is sexy of course but Clara recognizes her own maladaptive behavior and thinks through them. Lucas is more open while haunted by memories of his abusive childhood. I never feel like shouting at them for acting stupid like in many other romance stories since their hang ups and baggage is clear and relatable.
Not worth it
