Publisher Description

Gabriel Olsson is falling in love.

From the moment I saw Lily Larson—lost in the middle of campus—I knew she was a golden girl. She's blessed with charm, beauty, and confidence. Yet out of all the guys in my Swedish hometown, she chose me. I'm not questioning why because Lily is my sunshine in the dark Nordic night. She awakens a romantic side I didn't know I possessed.

Everything was perfect until the day she left, when my awkwardness made our break-up especially painful. Now Lily won't even talk to me. My one slim chance to win her back is a hockey try-out in her hometown in Canada. But to get there, I'll have to polish my rusty goaltending skills and—hardest of all—leave the family that I've been holding together for five years.

Even then, there's a chance that all my sacrifices will mean nothing. But I must try because Lily is worth it.

This global hockey romance is the fifth book in the Vancouver Vice series, but can be enjoyed as a freestanding book.

I got teary TWICE!

Melanie Ting can always be counted on for laughs, sexy romance, and unusual heroes that you end up falling in love with. This book starts out hilarious right from chapter one. I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading but forced myself to because I want it to last. I also want to add that New Adult is not my genre of choice, but I always make an exception for Melanie Ting's books.

Edited to add: I finished the book at 4:19 a.m. this morning all choked up and drunk with happy triumph and an eagerness to read the next in the series. There was also a part in the middle that tugged my heartstrings so hard. You'll know it when you get to it. I loved this book.

I visited Sweden about about 25 years ago, but only for a couple of hours. My only memory of it is being shat upon by a bunch of pigeons, en masse. Reading Coast to Coast was much better!! LOL Seriously, I feel like I truly visited the country and have a much better feel for the people and the culture there. Kudos to Melanie Ting for that.

The characterization is excellent. Gabe and Lily are deeply faceted and authentic. They're the type of fictional characters I would love to have dinner with and be friends with. The secondary characters--namely Jesper, Gabe's aunt, and Seb--were just as strong.

This book is a perfect entry point into the series. There are few little Easter Eggs for those of us familiar with the Vancouver Vice series, and that's fun, but otherwise, it's a total standalone.

Loved!

Coast to Coast is Vancouver Vice book 5 - it can be read as a standalone novel, but I highly recommend reading the series. Coast to Coast features Lily, who had a brief mention in An Irresistible Force (Vancouver Vice book 2) as she goes to Sweden for an exchange program in school. In Sweden, she meets Gabe, who is a goalie on his University team.

At first, I didn't like Gabe's blunt personality and it seemed like the cultural barrier would be too much for the couple to overcome, but Gabe eventually began to let down his guard and the two were a very sweet couple!

Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. There were so many cute and touching moments throughout the book. The characters were lovable. I truly appreciated how much time and research that Melanie put into learning about Swedish culture and that effort show in the quality of the novel.

I highly recommend this book. I hope that other readers will love the Vancouver Vice family as much as I do!
