Publisher Description

Remember when flying was glamorous and sexy, even fun? When airline food was gourmet, everyone dressed up for a flight, and stewardesses catered to our every need-at least in our imaginations? This classic memoir by two audaciously outspoken young ladies, who lived and loved the free-spirited stewardess life, jets you back to those golden days of air travel-from the captain who's as subtle as a 747 when he's on the make to the passenger who mistakes the overhead luggage rack for an upper berth; from the names of celebrities who were a pleasure to serve (and some surprising notables on the "bad guy" list) to the origins of some naughty stereotypes-Spaniards are the best lovers, actors the most foul-mouthed. This huge bestseller, a First Class jet-age journal, offers a hilarious gold mine of outrageous anecdotes from the high-flying and amorous lives of those busty, lusty, adventuresome young women of the swinging '60s known as "stews."

Coffee, Tea.....

Interesting read from Stew's perspective when flying was a real treat and experience. It would be interesting to read a similar book based from today's point of view.

Coffee tea or me

I remember reading this book when it first came out many many years ago. I remembered it being lighthearted and funny. I have been flying a lot lately, was reminded of this book, and decided to see if it was still as enjoyable as it was back in the day.
I must say it has not aged well. There is one chapter, in particular, that is homophobic and mean spirited. The stewardesses also talk about their careers as though it was a dating service...the men are what they are after and as soon as they marry one they will give up flying. How far we have come since the horrible attitudes in this book.
In this edition there is a forward by the ghost writer Donald Bain in which he pretty much toots his own horn...the ladies could never have written this book by themselves, etc. it made me wonder how much of the book was really fiction.
Oh, and let’s not forget the Playboy inspired cartoon drawings of the women...all with huge bosoms, wasp waists, and curvaceous hips and thighs. No women look like that, and if they did they couldn’t make the weight requirements.
Unless you are studying how much more enlightened we have become since the glory airline days or you long for the days when women had nothing more on their minds than finding men, I don’t recommend this book.
