Two cases engage Ali Reynolds and her new husband, tech guru B. Simpson, in bestseller Jance's lively 10th novel featuring the former L.A. TV newscaster now living in her hometown of Sedona, Ariz. (after 2014's Moving Target). The first one involves Ali's daughter-in-law, Athena, whose grandmother is being pushed off her Minnesota farm. The second begins when pregnant teen Enid Tower escapes from a secretive polygamous cult and is badly injured after being hit by a car on an Arizona highway. As a result of the accident, she gives birth prematurely to a girl. Sister Anselm, nun extraordinaire and patient advocate, attends to Enid and her baby in the hospital. The investigation of the cult leads to horrendous violence, which doesn't quite pass the believability test. Anselm's scenes low-key but compelling are the best thing in the book. But the prolific Jance knows how to tell a story, so series fans won't be disappointed.

Cold betrayal
I've been a fan for many years and look forward to the next book. Love the characters and the progression of story line. I do, however, have just a few issues I would address. The hospital scenes are less than realistic. Fathers today are not relegated to a waiting room. For security, viewing windows are generally no longer available in most hospitals. Finally, as a professional nurse of over 43 years I would object to being referred to as "Nurse..whoever"
This is only a technical editing I would speak of which may have been helped by professional review prior to publishing. That being said.... Can't wait to see for the next book.
Not always rite
Book was ok, reviewer needs to"slo da roll", cause I have personally witnessed cults going WAY over board because of people leaving w/o permission. To the tune of mass murder of a family in Houston, & many other cities behind this. Look make sure the "Critic" is smart enough to spell "book", this one was not. Up that "ok", to "fine". Spend a dime hire someone besides "Mental Midgets"!
