A game of pretend with the highest stakes of all in the latest novel of breathtaking romance from USA Today bestselling author Caitlin Crews
Ty Everett ran off to the rodeo when he turned eighteen and has been riding bulls ever since…until his last fall causes partial amnesia and he must return to Cold River Ranch to figure out what comes next. But how can he pick his next move when he can’t remember how he got here in the first place—much less the beautiful woman who appears at the ranch, claims she knows him, and warms his cold heart for the first time since he woke up in the hospital?
Rodeo Queen Hannah Monroe gave up her crown for Ty Everett, and her innocence. What she wants from Ty now is a divorce. But Ty can’t remember her—or their secret wedding, or even the son she never meant to hide from him—and Hannah is torn. How can she leave the man she can’t forget and still loves despite herself? And even if she’s willing to start over, what will happen when the truth comes out?
“Caitlin Crews writes cowboys you’ll swoon over…and will grip your heart.”—Nicole Helm, author of Cowboy SEAL Redemption
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In her second Cold River Ranch romance, Caitlin Crews dials up the angst. After falling off a bull, rodeo star Ty Everett lost two years of his memory: he can’t even remember his wife, Hannah, or their baby. Sure, it’s a soapy plot device, but Ty’s amnesia allows the married couple to honestly reexamine their volatile and passionate relationship—and fall in love all over again. With an emphasis on healing and forgiveness, Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy is an emotional and cathartic read.
This snail-paced second Cold River Ranch contemporary (after A True Cowboy Christmas) lacks the appeal of its predecessor. Former rodeo queen Hannah Monroe shows up in Cold River, Colo., to get a divorce, but her husband doesn't even know they're married. Bull rider Ty Everett lost more than his title during his most recent competition; he also lost his memories of the last two years of his life, which include his whirlwind romance with Hannah, their secret wedding, and his anger and distress when she became pregnant. Afraid Ty will reject their son, Hannah doesn't reveal the boy's existence. Ty is worried that he'll turn out just like his abusive father, so he's abandoned any thoughts of having children. Once he learns he's married, he wants the marriage to work, and Hannah's willing to give it a second try, but the foundation they try to build comes crumbling down when he discovers her big secret. Trust and forgiveness are at the center of this sordid tale, but the plot is bogged down by excessive details and flat dialogue. Luckily, Ty's younger brother, Brady the unmarried Everett brother, clearly due to star in the next book is alluring and will keep readers interested in the series. Crews earned enough goodwill with book one to see readers through this lukewarm installment and on to the next.

This is book two in the Cold River Ranch series and it features Ty and Hannah. The crown of the queen of Rodeo Forever couldn’t be tarnished and Ty and his reputation would definitely tarnish it. They were in love and secretly married. She got pregnant and when she went to tell him before his ride, he was not happy about it and they had a huge fight. What happened next would set the course of Hannah’s life for the next year and a half. This story is about Hannah’s battle to either divorce OR reclaim the man she loves but doesn’t remember her or the fight they had before his accident. She’s a fighter! I love that! I didn’t like how long it took her to tell Ty about Jack. It kind of made her look she didn’t want to share either of them with each other. I also didn’t like their extreme lack of communication despite living together. I do think there was too much left unsaid between Ty and everyone else.
This was an emotional story line with fantastic characters! It’s a story full of introspection with a beautiful HEA. I can’t wait for Brady’s story.
Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy
I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
The beginning of the book is really slow. The characters do more internal thinking than actual dialogue being spoken. When there was a conversation, I would sometimes have to go back to the location the question. The premise of the story is a good one though. It took a long time to completely understand what had happened between Hannah and Ty. Their very first conversation in the book was confusing to me. There was never a simple answer to a simple question. I was frustrated with that wondering if it was a generational thing as I am in my 50's or just something to complicate the situation that was already complicated. I felt Hannah was very immature a lot of the time but then again she is only 22 in the story.
I did appreciate the dual POV format of the story. Like I said earlier, there was a lot of that going on though. It was really towards the end of the story that I really felt a connection to the characters. I really hate to give up on a story and have only ever not completed a handful of stories in all of my years of reading. I was glad to have persevered because the final few chapters more than made up for the slow start.

Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy is book 2 in the Cold River Ranch series by Caitlyn Crews. This a new to me author but I definitely will be reading more of her books!
Ty Everett, rodeo bull rider since he turned 18 has a fall that has caused partial amnesia. He returns home to figure out what is next in his life...if only he could remember....
Hannah Everett, former rodeo queen gave up everything when she met Ty, gave her innocence to him, married him , had a child he knows nothing about... now all she wants is a divorce.
Can these to find a way to overcome all the past hurts, his amnesia and secrets to a HEA or will they just divorce and go their separate ways??
