Publisher Description
“A double-barreled blast of action, narrative, and impossible-to-fake authenticity with a great sense of place and a terrific protagonist. I’m looking forward to many more Arliss Cutter thrillers.” —C.J. Box, #1 New York Times bestselling author on Open Carry
Bestselling master of suspense, and author of TOM CLANCY POWER AND EMPIRE, Marc Caemron’s fourth book in the acclaimed Arliss Cutter thriller series.
After an early spring thaw on the Alaskan coast, Anchorage police discover a gruesome new piece of evidence in their search for a serial killer: a dismembered human foot.
In Kincaid Park, a man is arrested for attacking a female jogger. Investigators believe they have finally captured the sadistic serial killer. But one deputy is sure they have the wrong man.
In the remote northern town of Deadhorse, Alaska, Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter escorts three handcuffed prisoners onto a small bush plane on route to Anchorage. It’s a routine mission and a nonstop flight—or so he thinks. When the plane makes an unexpected landing in the middle of nowhere, all hell breaks loose.
Back in Anchorage, deputy Lola Teariki has traced the dismembered foot to a missing girl—and the serial psychopath who slaughtered her. It’s one of the prisoners on Cutter’s flight . . .
“The best in the (Arliss Cutter) series . . . endless supply of snow, suffering, and suspense.” —Best Thriller Books.com
“Marc Cameron is one of the great ones . . . Honest to God, I can’t think of another writer whose work I admire more.” —William Kent Krueger
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Prepare for nonstop tension in the brutal Alaskan wilderness. Marc Cameron’s hard-hitting thriller finds determined U.S. marshal Arliss Cutter on the run after an emergency plane landing. What follows is a series of dramatic and deadly events involving fugitive prisoners, the hunt for a serial killer, and Arliss fighting for his life in the harsh Alaskan spring. At first, each plotline seems unrelated, but Cameron slowly stitches the story together in surprising ways. The vivid writing balances explosive action, nuanced character development, and slow-burn suspense, making for a very satisfying—and thrilling—read.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Cameron's exciting fourth novel featuring quick-thinking Deputy U.S. Marshal Arliss Cutter (after 2021's Bone Rattle) takes Cutter once again from his home state of Florida to Alaska, where he and his colleague on the Alaska Fugitive Task Force, unflappable Deputy Lola Teariki, board a Russian freighter suspected of smuggling. The unusual cargo they uncover comes as a big surprise. In an overlapping case, the duo is informed that a woman's foot has washed up on the shore, the apparent fifth victim of the Bootleggers Cove serial killer. Meanwhile, Cutter begins to question whether his older brother Ethan's death two years earlier had been a murder and not, as had been presumed, an accident. Cameron piles on the complications in the thrilling finale, played out in a remote wilderness setting, with an icy storm on the horizon and a hungry 800-pound grizzly looking for his next meal. Well-developed characters complement the nonstop action. Cameron viscerally conveys Alaska's austere beauty as well as its unexpected dangers. Agent: Robin Rue, Writers House.
Customer Reviews
Action packed
Adventure after adventure but left me wanting to know more. This book made me think the next one will cover Ethan’s death and hopefully resolve the Arliss and Mim relationship
Time to quit the series!
It took me a couple weeks to finish this dog. Slow, uneven and boring. Too many stories in a story and too many stories having nothing to do with a law enforcement tale.
Cold Snap
I loved it! The book is a real thriller. I very much recommend it.
