Publisher Description

Second in a new series set in Alaska from beloved cozy author Paige Shelton, Cold Wind will chill your bones.

Beth Rivers is still in Alaska. The unidentified man who kidnapped her in her home of St. Louis hasn’t been found yet, so she’s not ready to go back.

But as October comes to a close, Benedict is feeling more and more like her new home. Beth has been working on herself: She’s managed to get back to writing, and she’s enjoying these beautiful months between summer and winter in Alaska.

Then, everything in Benedict changes after a mudslide exposes a world that had been hidden for years. Two mud-covered, silent girls appear, and a secret trapper’s house is found in the woods. The biggest surprise, though, is a dead and frozen woman’s body in the trapper’s shed. No one knows who she is, but the man who runs the mercantile, Randy, seems to be in the middle of all the mysteries.

Unable to escape her journalistic roots, Beth is determined to answer the questions that keep arising: Are the mysterious girls and the frozen body connected? Can Randy possibly be involved? And—most importantly—can she solve this mystery before the cold wind sweeping over the town and the townspeople descends for good?

Cold Winds Ahead

Location: Benedict, Alaska

Person of Interest: Beth Rivers

Mission: Stay under the radar...until murder!

If you’re a fan of Paige Shelton’s cozy mysteries like I am, this is a nice change of pace! Cold Wind is the second in this Alaskan series and my new favorite. It kept me guessing until the end! I’m normally pretty good at figuring out the mystery/murderer (toot toot), but this one kept me guessing. I didn’t want to stop reading it! Such a great way to escape what’s going on in the world right now! Almost makes you want to run away to Benedict too. Minus the whole murder thing and rare internet (haha). It’s a must read, I cannot wait for publishing day. Thank you Paige for another great read!

Unique setting

This is the author’s second book in the Alaska series. I really like a good backstory with a current book mystery. And this one kept me guessing. I fell for all the red herrings and that is unusual for. me. I really liked the rustic setting. The book is told in a no nonsense matter and I could relate to Beth, the main character. I also felt like I was a part of the town and its cast of characters.

I think anyone who likes mysteries in a unique setting will like this book. And while I didn’t read the first book in the series, I had no trouble following the storyline.
