A PRO TOOL APP

As a working pro artist who started in comic books with the all time great Neal Adams and his Continuity Studios, I have say this app is truly remarkable. I now consider it a pro tool. You can literally go from start to finish to creat a professional product, without ever having to leave this app.

I’ve used it for a variety of pro projects, including STORYBOARDS, CHILDREN’S BOOKS, ILLUSTRATIONS, and of course COMIC BOOK ART.

I’m currently using it to create a new GRAPHIC NOVEL. I wrote the SCRIPT in the APP and did the LETTERING in it also. I imported my layouts from sketches I’d did on napkins, and used these for the whole FIRST ISSUE 24 pages + COVER and interior inside cover and credits.

This allowed me to see the whole flow of the book on my iPAD PRO. To me, this is INCREDIBLE. Why more pros don’t seem to know about this app stuns me. I believe a 100% this is a pro tool for the preproduction process of creating any comic book project.

I have only ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT about the COMIC DRAW app. To me this is HUGE though. It DOESN’T SEEM to allow you to do A DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD.

I don’t see a WORK AROUND WITH IT. Since that is a way of doing something SPECTACULAR in COMIC BOOKS…to me…this is a REAL short coming.

I tried doing a FULL BLEED two page connection to see if I could get the LAYOUTS to line up. But it wasn’t really successful.

If this could be ADDED in a UPDATE. For ME…this as a pro artist…would be a FANTASTIC UPGRADE.

Other than that, nothing else really jumps out at me as a significant draw back. As much as I’ve used it, it’s been super stable. There hasn’t really been anything I’ve wanted to do so far, as what I might do in the real world, that this app hasn’t done.

My final comments about the INSTRUCTION MANUAL is, it reads pretty clearly, but I think some more in depth explanations on the use of the COLORING TOOLS and the PERSPECTIVE GRIDS would improve it.

To my mind, no real good instructional videos have been done on this app, and I think that hurts it. I think it would be worth while to have to professionally done, with pro presentations on the use of each elements.

There is a feature that comes with the app, as I understand it, that allows you to even make something like this. But there’s nothing in the APP INSTRUCTIONS that deals with that.

But all in all…the COMIC DRAW APP is on a 5 STAR RATING…10 STARS. It’s that good!
