To start with, this book is written in 3rd person; very rarely can I get into a book written from this point of view, much less enjoy it. This is also the case with Complete Surrender; there is a total disconnect between me and the characters in the 3rd person writing style. Secondly, the book is extremely overly descriptive, and repetitive at times. I was also gifted with the actual copy and unfortunately, I was surprised by the number of errors I found.
I was told Complete Surrender can be read as a standalone, even though it’s the third in the LaCasse series. I do not agree; there’s a huge amount of interaction with the two brothers, whom were the main characters from books 1 & 2, and even though I was given the backstory, I felt lost. The brothers, and the family, are in more than half the book! This is why I typically won’t start in the middle of a series.
The steamy love scenes were the only promising thing for me in the story. With the rest of the book; I was ready for it to be over, and couldn’t get into it.
Unfortunately, I have to give Complete Surrender 1.5 stars, I really didn’t like it, but maybe if it wasn’t written in 3rd person, it could have been better....Sara
