Publisher Description
Ivimey expands on the story of the three blind mice, providing details of their quest before and after the dreaded 'carving knife' incident. At first, they set off for some fun and adventure. Having to spend the first night on the road sleeping in a field, their lot gets progressively worse, until they are begging a farmer for scraps of food. The generous farmer obliges them, and after eating, they dance for joy, only to irritate the farmer's wife, who fetches the cat. The mice flee, only to have their eyes scratched out by briars. The three mice lose their minds, and run after the farmer's wife, who promptly cuts off their tails. The mice are desolate, and seek help from a chemist, surely a 'pharmacist,' who befriends them and gives them a tonic that will re-grow their tails and restore their sight! After the wisdom gained from their ordeal, the proud mice settle with purpose to perform their learned trade.
Grown-ups as well as children will be fascinated by the rollicking rhythm of the verses and the clever humorous drawings of this original version of the ''THREE BLIND MICE" and their many adventures. The well-known popular music of the roundelay will be found in the front of the book.
“Three Blind Mice, Three Small Mice, Three Small Mice
Pined for some fun, Pined for some fun, Pined for some fun
They made up their minds to set out to roam, Said they, ““Tis dull to remain at home,"
And all the luggage they took was a comb.
These three Small Mice, Three Bold Mice, Three Bold Mice
Came to an Inn, Came to an Inn, Came to an Inn”
