Contemporary Indian English Drama‪ ‬

Contrary to the belief that the Indian Drama in English is still in its infancy and that the period of gestation is not yet over, the fact is that it has reached a stage of indefinable maturity and though it may suffer from quantity but certainly not in quality. This genre of Indian English Literature though emerging earlier began establishing itself firmly in the middle of the twentieth century; hence it is quite recent and plays written after the nineteen eighties cannot be judged appropriately without reviewing the varied attempts at writing and producing plays in English by Indian writers.
