Publisher Description

Things like murder have a funny way of messin’ up a country girl’s life, turning a pretty pastoral day right onto its bucolic head.

Joey’s just a country girl who loves her dog, her cat and her pig. But her life is about to get less countrified and more…erm…homicide.

Enjoyable read

I couldn’t put the book down. I was up all night reading.

It wasn’t too heavy. It was light and easy to read. Life has been hard lately for everyone and this book allows you to escape and relax for a little while.

Sam Cheever’s Country Cousins Mysteries Collection

Deer Hollow, Indiana is where we meet Joey
Fulle and her pit bull, Cacophony better known
as Caphy. Joey lost her parents in a small
plane crash several years ago. Joey has
inherited their home and warehouse.
While out for walk, Caphy brings Joey a
clump of fur. Upon investigation Joey discovers
a dead body stuffed into a wood chopper on
the edge of her property. Whose body is the
dead one? Whose wood chipper? Why was this
mess left on Joey property?
In my opinion, a well written, well plotted mystery
puzzle with a cast of colorful characters
County Cousins Second Story in the Collection.
Penney Sellers is a real estate agent. She has
come to Deer Hollow to get residents to sell
their properties. She is extremely uncouth with
people.
After trying to get Joey to sell and being refused.
Caphy finds Penney Sellers floating in the pond
on Joey’s property.
Joey finds herself involved in another murder
investigation. She also find herself with a
ferocious Siamese cat named LaLee.
In my opinion, a talented written, complex
which involves Joey is very well written with a
well created cast of colorful, some quirky and
vivid characters.

An enjoyable read.

Ms.Cheever has created some interesting and believable characters in this series. I was up late just so I could finally find out what all was going on and “who done It”. Her writing style is very descriptive of the characters and scenery or locations. Their conversations are true to life and that makes them feel like people I’d like to know. One drawback for me was that I did have a bit of a hard time connecting with the main character at first as she is a dog person and I am not. Did not realize that they used such cutesy nicknames etc. But, I didn’t let that interfere with my enjoyment of both books, and I’m looking forward to more.
