Wonderful prequel
Covet is the prequel to Splendor. Though I already read Splendor I was very excited to read Covet since Splendor is my favorite book in the Inevitable series. A lot of readers have requested more of Tessa's backstory and details about Peter and the author delivered with this trilogy. I have to say all of the men in the Inevitable series are swoon worthy book boyfriends, but Ian is my favorite. He is alpha and protective, but also classy, cultured and well mannered.
Tessa Lockwood has had an extremely difficult and heart breaking life. She has endured more in her young life than one can imagine. Through it all she kept her dignity and honor. She has a sweet disposition and a strong work ethic. I really like her character development and what she represents.
She earns a job with the Gregson Hotel Group, a world class hotel chain that epitomizes luxury and first class service. When she meets Ian a few years into her employment she can't help but to be drawn to him. This is despite their age difference and the fact that she is married. I don't want to spoil the story and give away took many details. Suffice to say there isn't any cheating and hers is not a traditional marriage. She does have incredible dreams about him as a stranger prior to meeting him and then as her boss while she is married! There love is written in the stars.
Ian Gregson is a bachelor devoted to his job and family. He was happy being single, but definitely not a playboy. He was content in his life until he meets Tessa and realizes that she is what is missing in his life. He has very strong morals and would never get involved with a married woman or let his interest in her be known. He secretly wishes that she will be free to be with him day. In the meantime he keeps an eye on her at work and falls in love with her the more he gets to know and respect her.
In a quintessentially princess or Cinderella style romance he is the Prince that will shower his lady with the finer things in life he feels she deserves. She is not a gold digger looking for those gifts and fights to turn them down. She wants Ian for Ian and not his wealth.
I really am excited for the rest of their story and am anxiously awaiting book two.
