He’d never mixed business with pleasure…until now
When Dallas Granger left his family's Last Stand, Texas, ranch, he hadn't planned on returning. But when a medical emergency calls him home and a legal matter affects his business, suddenly his family isn't the only thing in need of a re-build. Unfortunately his new project involves building a house for a woman who not only awakens his desires, but also his fears. But if he wants to claim her as his own, he'll have to tear down the walls he's built around his heart.
Single mom Ashley Anderson knows all about juggling. Between an assortment of part-time jobs and raising her sixteen-year old daughter, she doesn't need a hunky construction worker with an attitude as a distraction. Even one who steps in to help her when she needs it most. But life has taught Ashley that when the going gets tough, she's on her own. It's going to take a man with a Texas-sized heart to show her that this cowboy isn't going anywhere.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Historical romance author Beattie (A Marshal's Promise) makes her first foray into contemporaries with this heartfelt and pleasant tale set in the fictional town of Last Stand, Tex. Hardworking single mom Ashley Anderson is determined to provide everything for her 16-year-old daughter, Brittany, but it's a struggle. She's thrilled to be eligible for a new house through a Habitat for Humanity like organization. Construction company owner Dallas Granger has spent his entire life being responsible for others, and he's tired of it. While trying to return a nail gun that a former employee stole, he's pulled over by cops and charged with possession of stolen property. Required to do community service building houses, Dallas is scornful of Ashley and others benefiting from the charity, believing them to be lazy freeloaders. Ashley enjoys Dallas as prime eye candy, but she's distracted when Brittany seems to be heading down the path to becoming a teenage single mother. Dallas's unfortunate tendency to leap to the worst conclusions about everyone may make readers wonder why Ashley keeps pardoning his behavior. Still, Beattie's first contemporary is mostly satisfying, with a strong and well-constructed plot, and will appeal to fans of stories about devoted, loving single parents.

Cowboy Up
Enjoyed the story of Ashley and Dallas very much. Ending wasn’t how I liked them to be, but maybe they’re included in other books in the series, I hope so.
Charming Story
What a delightful way to share a story about fighting for love!
Cowboy up
I really loved this book. It had great characters who all had struggled with some of life’s most difficult challenges but in the end they all came together to help each other. It was truly a great love story with a happy ending!
