A coroner turned PI gets to the bottom of a suspicious drowning in this tense whodunit in Jonathan and Jesse Kellerman’s long-running Clay Edison series. When private eye Regina Klein is hired by a rich family to investigate their son’s supposedly accidental death, she calls on her friend Clay Edison for some expert help. As Clay discovers similarities to a past case, he begins to believe the tragedy wasn’t a terrible mishap but a cold-blooded murder. With their signature readable style and just the right dose of humor, the Kellermans effortlessly pull us into the thrilling world of high-stakes crime solving. We love how they bypass the clichéd hardboiled loner PI, instead giving us a well-adjusted, likable hero we can cheer for. Best
 Best of the series so far. The dialogue was crisp. The descriptions were detailed, but not overly so. Enough was left for the imagination. I’m not sure about the timeline of things happening at the end of 2026 but maybe that’s just an indication of when the next book will come out. Well done.

I always loved Jonathan Kellerman and now I love his son Jesse too. Great series!
