Crazy Making is an inside look into the words and lyrics of Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October. This expanded third edition of Furstenfeld’s book contains lyrics, handwritten notes, and personal photographs. The book includes all lyrics from Blue October’s albums and EPs, from 1998’s The Answers through 2011’s Any Man In America, as well as a preview of the band’s latest album, Sway, and lyrics from a number of unreleased songs. Crazy Making gives the reader a personal and in depth look inside Furstenfeld’s creativity and thought process.
Crazy Making includes full length audio on select songs to enhance the reading experience, as well as Blue October’s music videos from Any Man In America and Sway, and links to all of the band’s digitally available catalog.

Favorite Artisti, Favorite Band. A look into Justin's Head
Blue October has been in my life since I first found them in 2000 at age five. My favorite song, which is still my favorite song, by Blue October is Conversations Via Radio.
Anyone who loves Blue October also knows Justin's history; his highs, his lows, his breakdowns, and his successes as a person and artist. The book "Crazy Making" gives us a first person view behind all of it.
Working as a half-lyric book- half- autobiography, the book consists of almost every song in Blue October's catalog, including some songs that were never previously released to the public.
The book implores readers to read the lyrics word for word, with each page including a hand-written footnote, sometimes a few sentences, sometimes a few paragraphs, about Justin's mindset when writing the song. Some songs were influenced by angst, some by drugs, and some by total rage and anger.
For Fans of Blue October, this is an amazing read. Divided into albums, I suggest any reader goes album by album, listening and reading every lyric.
It's an emotional, captivating, and amazing collection for the Blue October catalog. After putting the book down you'll realize Justin is quite possibly the most emotional lyricist of all time.
Love getting into an artists head
I love Blue Octobers music so raw so honest. I bought this book, knowing I'd get a glimpse into the the mind behind all the talent. I really like all the handwritten comments Justin adds to the songs he wrote. The only question I have with this book is why he didn't comment on why he added the article form john Lomax into the book. It's not a nice article of Justin or Blue October at all, where was his rebuttal or comment of the article?
You’ll understand the reason of the song.
There isn’t a Blue October song I could’t identify with. Every song has meaning and with this book you’ll understand why the song was written and the amazing talent behind this band. They have a great following and all us fans are best friends.
