Publisher Description

Memoir of a young woman from a Catholic family in St. Martinville, Louisiana, who falls in love with a Jewish New York college student studying to be a doctor. She runs off and marries him, then they spend time in the Peace Corps in India. After two years abroad, they return home to the States in the summer of 1968 to a country in the midst of social revolution and protests against the war in Vietnam. A supportive wife and nurturing mother of three, she lives in her husband's shadow for many years as they move from city to city to accommodate his medical career. Along the way, she finds her own voice, returns to college to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work, and enjoys a fulfilling career of her own as a social worker.
