Destroy the Vitucci family from the inside out. Break them as they had broken our great-grandmother.
That was the plan.
Then I set eyes on Ciana Donati.
The moment she appeared before me, everything changed.
Sheena might think that I was her loyal soldier, but I was the one she should fear.
All I wanted was a little time away from the craziness that was my life as a Vitucci princess. I promised to be on my best behavior if they would just let me go on vacation—and I meant to keep that promise.
Then I saw the sexy stranger on his balcony next door, and my entire world shifted.
I didn’t plan to fall for him, but as we shared bottles of wine and our darkest secrets under the stars each night, I gave him my heart.
Never once imagining it was all part of his plan to use me to hurt the person I loved most.
Heartbroken, I returned home, determined to forget the biggest mistake of my life.
But I brought a lot more with me than just a shattered heart.
A Gut Punch to the Heart in the Best Way Possible
If you haven’t read Heartless Savage, you might want to check that book out before starting this amazing read. Nova and Ryan’s story is amazing, by the way. Terri Anne Browning has a way to pull the reader in with every emotion in the book. You might even find yourself yelling at her, but all in the best way possible. I highly recommend all of her books.
Cruel Surrender will have your heart feeling like its gut punched and restarted several times while reading Ciana Vitucci and Bain O’Farrell’s story. It’s full of heartbreak, miscommunication and a need to prove family loyalty. Growing up with a Capo for a father, and living with her Mafioso uncle, you don’t get to live a normal life full of privacy. With bodyguards following your every step, you are used to eyes on you at every moment and the threat of violence in the back of your head.
A major enemy of the Vitucci family is the O’Farrell/O’Brion family in Ireland. Children are taught about every member of the family so they know who is the enemy is. Plagued with the prejudice of past actions, they can’t see that maybe not everyone is like Sheena O’Brion.
None of this stopped Ciana from having the kindest heart. Going to school to become a nurse, she didn’t follow in her family’s typical footsteps. Becoming a nurse and working for New Hope, helping take care of women as they try and start their own families takes a lot out of her. Seen as a nurse to some, every pain and triumph they felt, Ciana was right there with them.
This leads to her needing a majorly deserved vacation. The last thing Ciana every expected while finally taking some much-needed time off was finding an Irish stranger staying right next door.
This story is full of romance, violence, and the battle of following one’s heart or staying by one’s family. You will fall in love with Ciana’s kind heart every step of the way.
Congrats Terri, you have done it yet again.
