Unexpected Delight
Although I enjoy reading this content, I initially had my reservations about this book. I thought to myself, "Okay, this is another book about criminal activity, robbing banks, breaking the law, etc. It'll be interesting, but is it really going to bring something new to the table?"
Boy, was I in for a treat. From the moment I cracked open the first couple of chapters, Lonnie really captivates the reader by building a real, lasting connection between the characters on page and the reader. By the end of the book, you'll be...
Well, I'll let you discover that on your own.
But what I can say is that the author does something unique that I feel a lot of other books on similar content do not. You're not entirely sure of who you're "rooting" for. Lonnie is able to capture so much of the feelings and emotion that surround the everyday choices of Crystal Waters that he is really able to convey just what drives someone to start robbing banks and committing "the big crimes". At the beginning of the book, you may look at the average Joe and a bank robber and see the worlds difference- black & white, but by the end of the book those lines may not be so clear anymore. You'll start to see that the white has a little bit of gray in it after all and the black doesn't really look all the black anymore.
5/5, a must read for all adult readers!
