Orin Hargraves grew up in the mountains of south-western Colorado and graduated from the University of Chicago. His association with Morocco dates from 1980, when he began his service as a US Peace Corps volunteer there. Now he divides his time between rural Maryland, where he caretakes and cooks at a Buddhist retreat centre, and London, where he works as a freelance writer and lexicographer.
