Cyrus the Great, also known as Cyrus the Elder, was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire. Under his rule, the empire embraced all the previous civilized states of the ancient Near East, expanded vastly and eventually conquered most of Southwest Asia and much of Central Asia and the Caucasus. From the Mediterranean Sea and Hellespont in the west to the Indus River in the east, Cyrus the Great created the largest empire the world had yet seen.

A Problem...
Hello there!
The problems I noticed was in the last chapter of the book (the death of the Cyrus).
First of all, Herodotus is not a reliable source for writing history books, because he has already said that the stories he has written was told to him. I mean, he didn’t fact-check the stories. (last chapter was based and written on Herodotus’ book)
The second problem is that there are many theories about the great Cyrus’ death. Like Xenophon’s theory which says, “Cyrus died naturally.”
The reason why I’m rejecting Herodotus’ theory is that if Cyrus died on the north of the country and near Araxes (Aras) river, why is his body in Pasargadae located in Fars, Iran?
And also Cyrus had a great military and for the war with queen Tomyris he used about 10,000 soldiers (in his military when a soldier was injured or dead, someone was replaced quickly). So, how could he have lost the war?
