Then and there he vowed never to rest until he'd rightened that wrong-and laid the foundation for the lives of Jill and all those whom she would hold dear: her father, the mercenary soldier Cullyn; the exiled berserker Rhodry Maelwaedd; and the ancient and powerful herbman Nevyn, all bound in a struggle against darkness. . . and a quest to fulfill the destinies determined centuries ago.

Great start to such a fantastic series.
Disappointing and a slow read
I've enjoyed other books from this author and am surprised. I wanted to like this book. I kept waiting for it to pick up pace and soar. If you don't want to ruin the plot, read no further.
Daggerspell required dedicated slogging through a relatively simple plot contorted by popping in and out of time periods to watch the same characters' souls go through the same painful plot/mistakes over and over until finally, finally redemption is earned. If you enjoyed Groundhog Day, movie with Bill Murray and Andi MacDowell, maybe...maybe you'll like this book. Honestly though? I'm hesitant to say that since I like Groundhog day--even if it is a little slow.
