One terrible, embarrassing clerical error is behind it—and an administrator named Death is to blame.
But death, as they say, is final, and Daisy must now navigate this impossible new world. With the help of an unlikely ally, Daisy begins to realize that letting go isn’t just a challenge faced by those left behind. And as she learns how to survive this strange reality, friendship, hope and love begin to come alive in the most unexpected ways.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Not-a-spoiler alert: Daisy Cooper dies in the first 20 pages of this charming novel. Which means that all the events that make this such an entertaining read take place after the book’s heroine has been laid to rest. Debut author Tamsin Keily nails her clever premise that the afterlife is less like a fluffy-cloud paradise and more like an eternal visit to the DMV. She populates the story with memorable characters we instantly clicked with, like Death, who’s like that boss who’s trying a little too hard to be your pal, and Daisy’s still-living best friend, Violet, whose depression makes being dead seem almost worthwhile by comparison. With its sparkling, witty dialogue, this delightful read is full of touching observations about life and loss.
