DANGEROUS GROUNDS by Shelli Stevens is the first in her Seattle Steam series. Madison Phillips, proud owner of the new Ooo La Latte coffee shop, has crushed on her older brother’s best friend, Gabriel Martinez, for ages. Now that they’re both single and living in the same area, she’s hopeful he’ll have the chance to see she’s all grown up. For his part, Gabe definitely notices Maddie’s charms but is doing his best not to leap on his best friend’s baby sister. When a dangerous criminal targets her, having her in closer proximity is both everything he’s dreamed of and the greatest temptation he needs to resist.
Shelli Stevens’s story is a page turner. Maddie’s forthright and not so easily brushed off. Gabe sees her as the adult she is, and they manage to work through the obstacles to their relationship, murderous thieves included. Dangerous Grounds is a deliciously spicy start to this series!
