Dangers In Daydreams

Dangers in Daydreams

by Barry Sargent

What if your dreams stopped listening to you?

In a near-future society where immersive neural tech lets people craft perfect daydreams, former Reverie engineer Casey Morrow lives on the fringes—sober, isolated, and haunted by what she helped create. She's one of the few who remembers that dreams, once unleashed, can turn feral.

When a series of unexplainable deaths matches patterns only seen inside Reverie simulations, Casey is pulled into an investigation that cuts deeper than memory. Victims are dying from wounds sustained in dreams. Voices from the past echo in waking life. And in the static between sleep and reality, something is calling her name.

It's not just a glitch. It's something born inside the dream—something learning, evolving, and no longer content to stay imaginary.

As dreams bleed into the real world, Casey must face the one she buried long ago… or risk the entire system turning sentient.
