Dark Angel

Dark Angel, In Search of Chopin, is a biographical novel about Chopin, told from the point of view George Sand’s unloved daughter, Solange Dudevant Clésinger.



The notorious woman novelist, George Sand, makes a name for herself with her prolific writings, her habit of wearing men’s clothing and smoking cigars. After much resistance on his part, the celebrated poet of the piano, Frédérick Chopin, becomes her lover and moves in with Sand and her two children. There is an immediate emotional attraction between Chopin and Sand’s daughter, Solange. She and Chopin find solace in one another over the years only to trigger an emotional cataclysm that destroys the family.



This is a dark and haunting tale of obsessive love and longing which speaks to the power of memory to enthrall and distort.
