Dark Water Refuge

No one treads these dark waters. They know better than to incite the ancient gators that drift within.

And yet I find a woman in my bayou, her body floating. Placed there by a threat that should never have reached me. And when she opens her eyes?
Blazing blue. Aquamarine, lit by impossible lightning.
A girl that the man I never wanted to see ever again knows about.
A man who understands her secrets, who holds his own.
A man I hate, though I loved him once.
The three of us are a volatile combination. Now, we have to leave the safety of these tepid waters for the dark city lights of New York. Remove the threat to the woman we both crave, and bring her back.
If she wants to stay.
F*ck knows what I'll do if she leaves.
But if the threat follows her back here, they'll find that not all the monsters are in New York.
Because the monster here is me. And no one touches what is mine.
