Jason Goddard is on the run from a ruthless paramilitary group whose one aim is to hunt down and summarily execute people like him. He's cursed with the Darkening, which means in their eyes, he might as well be the Devil himself.

He thinks he's found sanctuary at Dr Lessing's remote country house but a new nightmare begins when she blackmails him into taking part in a dangerous experiment which goes terrifyingly wrong. Jason is hurled back into his own past where he confronts a malevolent being determined to take his identity, his family and his life.

He's going to lose everything unless he can find a way to harness the Darkening – but can he do it before it's too late?
