Customer Reviews
I love this book
Even though I do not believe in evolution, it is still a great book and very heart warming.
A great mix of fantasy and science
Darkling is based on a scientific "What if" question: what if the next step in evolution was around at the same time as the previous one? If you like fantasy books with clans, and rulers, and talking animals, you'll like this book. All of the great words that the author uses are a nice bonus. No need to read the other books in the series, this is a great stand-alone book.
Great book
This book was really good. It had a nice plot with lovable, and relatable characters. I was pleasantly surprised how emotionally invested I became with this book, since I wasn’t expecting much if I’m being honest. It has a cool premise to it as well. I thought the whole idea of pre-evolutionary bats was really cool. I actually almost cried reading this book, which is surprising because I almost never cry when I read books. The book advertises being for kids, but even being a 15-year-old, I really enjoyed it all the way through.
I also found that this book was really similar to the Wings of Fire series, and it definitely reignited my love for those books. If you haven’t read that series, and you have found yourself wanting something to replace the hole in your heart that Darkwing gave, (I sure have) I would strongly recommend those books. (There’s around 15 books + 2 graphic novels in that series, and also a new book gets added like every 6 months or so, so it’ll be a while before to run out of content.)
