Day by Day in the Gospel of Matthew

When Matthew was called to discipleship by Jesus with the simple command, “Follow Me!” he was a Rome appointed tax collector and despised by his fellow Jewish countrymen. Now he holds a place of honor as one of the four authorized biographers of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

 

Matthew’s gospel account portrays Jesus of Nazareth as the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies, giving ample proof that He was, indeed, the Messiah King whom God had promised to send to reign over His people, Israel.

 

These daily devotionals (spanning one whole year) follow the gospel of Matthew verse by verse. Each reading is accompanied by a brief commentary and a succinct, devotional prayer to ground your heart and will in an increasing desire to love, honor, and serve the Lord Jesus as one of His disciples today.
