Publisher Description
The Edgar Award-winning, New York Times-bestselling series by Dana Stabenow set in Alaska. Aleut private investigator Kate Shugak investigates a strange disappearance at sea.
The Bering Sea: two million square miles of dark capricious ocean and tempestuous squalls.
Last March, two men disappeared whilst loading supplies on a remote island there. Six months later, their skipper, Harry Gault, is still aboard the Avilda, and the families of the missing men are making noises about corruption.
Gault should have been fired over the deaths, but with the crew backing his version of events, what the authorities need is an investigator who can survive the tortuous conditions on an Alaskan fishing trawler.
Someone like Kate Shugak...

Good read
There are a lot of twists and turns that keep the reader interested.
TerrificStory
My husband was a crab fisherman and I'vebeen to Dutch Harbor. So much of the background descriptions are accurate. It is a bit much that Kate walks in a survival suit ( without puncturing) over rocks and tree roots; that she goes overboad in a crab pot AND MANAGES TO SURVIvE; but itmakes a good story. I am not familiar with native traditions and story telling but I enjoy aything that is printed whether authentic or not.
