The Big Uneasy 2.0
The Big Uneasy 2.0!
After Relatively Risky comes…
Be careful what you dig for….
A forensic surgeon in the New Orleans Coroner’s Office—and part of her dad’s Baker’s Dozen, Hannah Baker thought she knew when to dig, where to dig, and when to walk away.
But when her big brother gets her involved in the exhumation of a couple of coffins, she realizes the past can’t always be ignored. Not when its been simmering up a big pile of trouble for a very long time.
Only New Orleans could produce a “Baked” gumbo of the mob, shadowy figures from the past, annoying figures from the present, murders, attempted murders, and a really cute detective who is technically off limits.
Good thing NOPD Detective, Logan Ferris didn’t believe in limits, cuz the Big Easy is about to get very messy.
Fantastic book loved it I didn't want it to end
What a fun read. I lived in New Orleans for several years and it is a unique city with its own particular flavor. It is fun to read a book that uses the flavor to add to the story.
This book has a lot of great elements. There is the Baker family with thirteen siblings (Bakers dozen) and many in law enforcement roles. There are the mob families with several generations of dangerous members. They are holding many secrets from each other. When you add in romance and humor too, it is a really great mix.
Hannah Baker is the oldest sister in the family and is a forensic surgeon working for the New Orleans Coroner's Office. She is very low paid and bored with the same old murders. It doesn't challenger her and she is very intelligent. Lots of old mobsters are being shot. She thought an exhumation of some old coffins might mix things up a little but didn't realize quite how true that was until she is in danger and trying to figure out who is the new player in town.
Logan Ferris is her big brother's partner in the Police Department and should be off limits to Hannah but that doesn't seem to be the case. They are spending time together and it isn't just about the murders. It might be more dangerous to date her than to investigate crime with her seven protective brothers and her father.
I had not read any of the other books in the series and was easily able to jump right in to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely check out more by this author.
I received a free copy from the author in return for a honest review.
Gotta love the way this family Bakes!
The fabulous Bakers are back. Hannah the oldest sister has found herself in the middle of a mystery that doesn't include a dead body. As a coroner she is unfamiliar with solving a puzzle with no body. Luckily Alex's partner Ferris (Logan) is there to help, or be a distraction. This continues the mob geezers story started in Relatively Risky. Fun story with a heck of a plot.
