Classic Harrison
I grew up reading Harrison sci-fi. This novel is not my favorite, but it still exhibits his attention to developing detailed and complex social structures evolved under decidedly non-terrestrial conditions and then introducing a major perturbation in the form of an off worlder to stress the social fabric. As with all good sci-fi, this story forces you to consider your own motivations and the merits and shortfalls of the society in which you live.
