For never was there a story of more woe than that of Holland Brooks and her Romeo...

For as long as I can remember, London Sinclair was the boy who was forbidden. It didn’t matter that he made my heart skip a beat. Our surnames fated us to be sworn enemies. But when the truth was finally revealed, my life changed forever.

Lies have shaped our past, leaving London and me to pick up the pieces. But through the chaos, one thing is certain—I love London, and he loves me, and we won’t allow anyone to tear us apart again.

However, life has a funny way of proving us wrong.

As we attempt to make amends for the past ten years, we soon discover that the ghosts of our past will do anything to drive us apart. We are once again surrounded by deceit and betrayal, testing us in ways we never imagined.

When I’m faced with a proposition to end this heartache once and for all, I blindly agree. That decision changes everything, and I soon learn that those who act in haste create their own destruction.

Does love really triumph all? Or will London and I succumb to what was always written in the stars?

Review: Sins Of The Heart 2: Defiance Of The Heart

Defiance Of The Heart by Monica James is the second book in her Sins Of The Heart series. Picking up from the cliffhanger ending of book one, Absinthe Of The Heart, this book holds nothing back. Told from Hollands POV, the epic story of London & Holland's tragic love story does have a happy ending. It's a process getting there, and this book runs you through the emotional wringer plenty of times along the way.

For the sake of not sharing any spoilers for book one, this story continues the generational family feud between Holland and London's parents. Two young children drawn to each other, they were repeatedly torn apart because of their parents hatred. With all of that appearing to be in the rearview mirror, they try to move forward but they have a long and tumultuous road to travel before they earn their happy ever after.

Emotional, sexy, twisted and wonderfully written and paced - I thoroughly enjoyed this! Hope you do too!

One of my faves of 2018

Defiance of the Heart is the second book in the Sins of the Heart duet. You can not read this as a standalone, you must read Absinthe of the Heart to get the full story for this extraordinary story. I don't want to spoil the story and if you haven’t read the first book then I suggest not even reading this review. Instead go read the beginning of the story.

London loves Holland. Holland loves London. It should be easy to be together but it’s anything but easy. Their parents have hated each other since the night their children were conceived. Twenty- eight years ago. London and Holland were separated for ten years because of lies and now it was time for them to fight. For themselves. For each other. For their love. It should be the happiest of reunions. But when they go one step forward something brings them three steps back. Will they finally get their happily ever after or will their love come to an end?

I absolutely loved this story! The connection between London and Holland is epic. I felt it on every page. There are twists and turns around every corner for them but it never wavers. I fell hard for their love and devotion. It’s a story that will always stay with me.

Overall...This Duet is one of my favorite reads of 2018. And also one of my faves ever. It’s emotional, sexy, swoony, suspenseful, and heartbreaking. It gave me all the feels times ten.

Quotes:

“Drunk? Please. What makes you say that?” I try this sobriety test on for size as I commence a slow walk toward an unmoving London.
“The fact you’re talking to my filing cabinet might be a good start.”

“Kiss me,” I whisper, standing on tippy toes. “Kiss me without apology.” And I mean that in every sense that there is.

“Our lives have always been complicated, Princess. The only difference is we now have a say on how our story ends.”
