Bethany Heart has always had a special connection with food. When she lands a position as executive chef at a renowned Seattle restaurant, she seizes the chance to start fresh with her daughter, Olivia. But fate intervenes: Bethany's car breaks down in a small Idaho town, leaving her stranded and nearly penniless.

Cole Verbeck, a reserved local rancher, has managed the family ranch alone since his father's passing. He offers Bethany and Olivia shelter while her car is being repaired, in exchange for a bit of help around the house.
