This United State Army general human resources talent management personnel regulation, Department of the Army Pamphlet DA PAM 600-3 Officer Professional Development and Career Management March 2021, outlines officer development and career management programs for each of the Army’s career branches and functional areas. It does not prescribe the path of assignment or educational assignments that will guarantee success but rather describes the full spectrum of developmental opportunities an officer can expect throughout a career. It emphasizes the need of the future force leader to broaden and acquire a greater depth vice breadth of experience in challenging leadership positions. In addition, this pamphlet provides a summary of the special branches (The Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Chaplain Corps, and U.S. Army Medical Department). This pamphlet applies to the Regular Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated. During mobilization, procedures in this publication can be modified to support policy changes as necessary.
