Customer Reviews
Excellent, comprehensive and well written
I hardly give reviews. As an independent game designer working with a start up, this book has become the definitive resource for explaining concepts in my team. Jesse Shell's book is a good starter, but he meanders and loses focus. Sylvester doesn't waste a word.
Not only does this book hit every important point about design, development, story, mechanics, market, etc... it's also fun to read. (The sign of a great designer. )
I knew most of the concepts in this book, but I now problem solve with the concepts in a new way. I just love how this guy thinks.
If you are new to game design or production, or if you are experienced on AAA, this book is excellent. I had everyone on my team buy it.
