I absolutely love Beverly Jenkins and what a great story. I love the heroine she is so perfect and the hero what a sweetheart. Great match, great story! thanks again Beverly Jenkins.
Sooooo it’s not bad
It’s my first BJ novel. My friend recommended this to me. It’s a little rushed. But I loved all the women leads in this book. There’re some characters that I wasn’t sure I needed to be introduced to, and I felt like I made the mistake of reading this one first. You do KIND OF need to read the first one in the series. I’m also getting the sense that you need a history book next to you when reading her novels lol, I’m learning a lot of things, after picking up this book then deciding to do research on my own, about America settlers, Cuban Spanish history that I just….didn’t learn 🤷🏽♀️.
You definitely yearn for these characters, you feel for them, especially as an African American.
If there’s an author who needs her work adapted it’s hers. But not by Shonda Rhymes, she’d ruin it.
It’s just, the plot was rushed. Like I was expecting another push and pull of them saying I love you, and maybe another 100 pages, with some excitement and maybe a boat chase…idk 😭. And when they just came out and said it I was like “Oh…okay then” But maybe those are her books. It’s post slavery let’s wrap things up with a bow and have these characters of color be happy at the end, there’s drama but it’s comforting. I’m excited to read more
My Favorite
After reading the stories of Logan and Andrew Yates I really didn’t think their stories could be topped. I was seriously mistaken. Noah and Pilars story was simply wonderful. The story was full of heart ache, family unity, action,suspense,and surprising twists. Oh and of course Love. I was also happy to find out that Alanza (The mother of the Yates Brothers) discovered what it was to really be loved and cherished as a wife. Noah’s story is my favorite
