A breathtaking and sweeping epic of a family at its breaking point, Devil’s Brood shows how Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine—two monumental figures once bound by all-consuming love—became the bitterest of adversaries...
A.D. 1172. Henry II’s three eldest sons conspire against him and align themselves with his greatest enemy, King Louis of France, but it’s Eleanor of Aquitaine’s involvement in the plot to overthrow her husband that proves to be the harshest betrayal. As a royal family collapses and a marriage ends in all but name, the clash between these two strong-willed and passionate souls will have far-reaching and devastating consequences throughout Christendom.
Once again Penman brings to life the story of the much loved and hated Henry, Eleanor , and their tragic story. Never has an author captivated the reader with a true to life fictional read. Having read all her books save one, I truly wish these stories would never end. I find a sadness at the end of all her books because the world she creates inspires the reader with a sense of belonging to the times in her world. Unfortunate when the pages end the real world is not as interesting as the world Penman creates. By far, she is a queen in her own rite in the world of writers!!!
I bought the iPad and wanted to read the third in Penman's trilogy so I bought it through iBooks and it downloaded jiberish. Very disappointed that Apple didn't have the bugs worked out before they released the iPad.
