Devil's Notch

Set in 1937 Tennessee, Devil’s Notch follows reporter Quinn MacLeod of the Grundy County Herald, whose investigation into Pontipee’s coal operations uncovers irregular records, frightened miners, and troubling evidence of corruption inside a company-town power structure.

As Quinn pushes deeper into the mines and the men controlling them, she discovers that something far more dangerous than labor unrest is hidden beneath the surface of Grundy County’s mountains: a criminal enterprise protected by people willing to kill to keep it buried.

Devil’s Notch is Southern Appalachian noir and historical crime fiction with investigative tension, company-town brutality, and a grounded woman forced into moral conflict with the powers governing life beneath the mountain.
