Review: Burke Brothers #1: Dirty Secret
Dirty Secret by Emma Hart is the first book in her series The Burke Brothers.
This book had me hooked from the first page. It was a done deal by the end of the first chapter. I mean who can resist this? A secret that has spent the past two and a half years being kept is soon to be common knowledge. How is Sofie going to deal with the fallout? How is Connor going to handle the truth?
Man, oh man, the tension is palpable. I appreciate how the author didn't bury the anger towards Sofie under some rug somewhere. Despite Connors lasting love for Sofie, he is still really, really ticked off and he shows it. Often. I also appreciate how Sofie didn't excuse away her guilt but just simply acknowledged it as a thing that was and couldn't be changed. I mean things may not go quite so smoothly in the real world, but it felt real.
Sofie's insecurities were genuine and while unwarranted you can totally understand why she would start becoming insecure when her boyfriend was about to make it big with his band. It is a shame she didn't have enough faith in their love, but not too much of a shame because then there wouldn't have been a book. A book that I LOVED.
I am so very eager to read more about the Burke brothers and can't wait to see who will be the focus in the next book.
Loved it
The love story is sad , heartbreaking but beautiful ❤️ such a good book
Boring
This book is a waste of time and money. It reads like an episode of bad reality TV. If you're into that, you may like it, otherwise, it's completely unreadable.
