One hot sizzling read
This book was one hot sizzling read. I really enjoyed it and hating how I had to put it down everyday and couldn't read it from beginning to end. Matt and B were great together and I am glad Matt is finally happy again. Their chemistry together was off the charts. A must read and great series.
Loved this older hero, younger heroine story! DeLuca's still got "it".

The blurb sums up the story perfectly so I’ll jump into the review sans summary. Briar (29) made a brief appearance in HUNTED, and since Matt perked up and noticed her, I couldn’t wait for the story behind the mysterious woman. She was a great heroine—tough, deadly, a little damaged but bold. I really dug her Nikita-type background; I wasn’t expecting anything like it, but it explained a lot about why her inner circle of trust could be counted on five fingers. When she began trusting Matt (41) with her life, it spoke volumes. She was used to being alone, hazard of the job, but working closely with Matt to clear her name made her feel again. Though she was startled and unsettled, she didn’t shy away from the inevitable outcome of the mutual attraction.
I loved that their age difference (12 years) didn’t play a big role. They were a perfect match in every way. I was tickled by the fact that someone with Matt’s background and experience was awed by B’s skills, and I’m talking professional skills here. I love it when a tough guy can be taken by surprise. Though driven by lust, the romance was always simmering below the surface, so the gradual evolvement from lust to detail to acceptance felt like it was paced well and natural instead of fast and forced.
The suspense wasn’t as heart-thumping as some of the prior stories, but it was still great. I felt that it was more about Briar learning how not to lose herself in the ugliness and loneliness of her job, and that perhaps there was a different path she could choose that hadn’t been there before. As for Matt, B brought him back to life, pure and simple. This series just keeps getting better.
