Do Not Open the Door

This happened when I was a child.

It started like any other summer. The days were long, the windows stayed open, and we ran through the mosquito fog at night.

Then I saw something in the mist. And it wouldn't be the last time.

After that, things began happening that I couldn't explain.

I woke up outside with no memory of how I got there. Doors were locked from the inside. There were prints in the dirt that didn't belong to anything I knew.

Something had followed me home.
