DON JOSEPH PEAR

Thomas Crane was an American scholar and writer, mostly known as a collector and publisher of folk-tales and legends. A master of many languages, Crane translated French, Italian and Spanish legends, having become one of the most popular adapters of children’s fairy tales. 

 “Don Joseph Pear” is a legend, included in the “Italian Popular Tales” collection. The narration is about three brothers who own a pear-tree and live on the pears. So happened that once the brothers found the tree with the gathered pears! The older brothers one after the other, in turn, remained in the garden to guard the pear-tree during the night, but inalterably felt asleep. Only youngest brother will be able to catch a thief.
