From New York Times Bestselling Author Madeline Martin comes the exciting conclusion of her steamy, suspenseful Borderland Rebels series where dangerous lands yield dangerous rebels…
His honor is without question
Drake Fletcher has spent his entire life keeping his family safe, but has always clung to the desire to become a knight, like his father. Despite prejudices working against him and a country at war, his dreams may finally be within his grasp. But his journey to knighthood is interrupted by a woman with flashing green eyes and a sharp wit, one who has found a way to waver the most stoic of men.
Her honor is in question
Greer MacPherson's brother has been arrested and though she suspects foul play, no one will bother to listen. Not when she is a woman of such little consequence. In order to save him, she must resort to the skills she's had to rely on most of their lives: scheming and a sleight of hand. But when a heroic warrior rescues her, she finds she's not only drawn to his ability to keep her safe on the road, the man of such lofty morals also makes her thoughts turn wicked.
Can love be their common ground?
Where one sees honor, the other sees deceit. Even as passion ignites between them, so too does betrayal. But amid a maelstrom of danger and lies, can love sway the scales of justice?
Splendid, Thrilling and Romantic!!!
Madeline Martin is hands-down, one of my favorite authors be it through one of her medieval stories or her WWII novel, “The Last Bookshop In London”. “ Drake's Honor”, book 4 is the perfect conclusion to the Borderland Rebels Series.
Drake Fletcher is the perfect example of the chivalrous, noble and honorable knight who is a man of strength, compassion and understanding. And yet he is not yet knighted though it’s been his life’s goal, his dream and now it’s within his grasp. Summoned by the king to go undercover in the pretense of training the new warriors of the Lord at Lochmaben Castle to investigate the suspicious death of Lady Eileen Androll. In completing his mission he hopes to earn his knighthood. The King has of course provided him a trusted sidekick, Beathan aka Bean, his squire. With knighthood within his grasp he sets out on his mission and then he sees the beautiful auburn haired Greer being accosted and he has to save her.
Greer MacPherson is a young woman whom fate has not dealt a kind hand. She is strong, determined and resourceful when need be. She makes an honest living taking in laundry to take care of herself and her young brother of 12 years, Mac who has been taken prisoner by the Earl of Calver. She tried to have him freed and one of his guards told her for 50 marks he’d release him to her. Of course this was impossible considering how little she earns. When she failed in her efforts to speak to the King about it she sets out to get the money the only way she knew how, by stealing it. Having failed in her efforts and being accosted for trying she is saved by Drake but she’s determined to get the 50 marks so she agrees to travel with him. Having never found a reason to trust a man Greer is reticent to trust Drake but can’t help being drawn to him.
The characters are so well written and defined they come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end.
The author has masterfully woven a story where the chemistry sparks and love conquers even the most scarred of hearts. She’s so articulate and the dialogue and interactions between characters is just wonderful.
Her imagery is vivid and paints a brilliant picture in your imagination. I just fell in love with Drake, this sigh worthy hero and like him I could see and understand the desperation that drove Greer. This is such an amazing, action packed story, so beautifully written and wonderfully told that at times it takes your breath away.
Thank you Ms. Martin, you have a lovely way of transporting the reader to another place and time.
Oh my this is the 4th book in this series and wow just wow I’ve loved each and every book. Drakes story hit out of the park he spent his life after his father’s death protecting his mother and sister and working to become and English Knight which was a lot harder than he thought it’d be. His father was English and his mother was a daughter of a high ranking Scottish Laird. Drake put himself in the line of fire to protect his sister. He gives up on becoming an English Knight and starts to work for the king of Scotland. He’s sent on a mission and if he completes the mission he’ll become a Scottish Knight will he finally be a knight and will he find the love his sisters have. This authors books are always in my top ten can’t wait to see what this author has for us next
I have waited since the borderland series for Drakes story and it did not disappoint. Drake finally meet his match. I really enjoyed the twist and turns of this story plot. I can’t wait to see what Madeline Martin writes next.
