Surprisingly Sad
One of my favorite aspects of 30k fiction is the glimpses of Unification Era Terra we get, and the contrast between that high point and the crash that is the Heresy. In that regard, this story delivers. It’s one of the few glimpses into the Thunder Warriors we get, and it’s a bittersweet tale.
Gritty noir thriller.
It’s dark, gritty, and grimy — everything a story about the thunder warriors should be. Between the detective noir styling of the narration, and the robust character building this story will leave you excited for more. It’s certainly short, but in those few pages Nick Kyme managed to catch lightning in a bottle, and thunder on the page.
