There's no respite to be found – not even in the warm embrace of a love newly blooming. The Bearers are under attack, and so too is Verbank. A murder in their small town turns their world on its axis as Shea unravels new secrets and talents that make her invaluable in the fight for Verbank's survival. Yet, she is more uncertain than ever if she can help save her town. Especially with her ancestors tearing her apart from the inside and a realm she can hardly understand beckoning her.
Mordai has come for them, again. And Shea can't shake the feeling that her luck might be running out.

Love love love!
This is the fourth book in the Dark Paths series and needless to say, I am so in love with this series. I want to buy every book Ivy has ever written. This book answered so many questions and finished so many open plots. I read it so fast and now I wish I could read it over.
Shea has flourished so much since book one. She is this beautiful and hardworking character. She takes care of everyone. She fights tooth and nail to protect those closest. She loves and loves hard. Shea never gives up and is a fighter even though she’s shoved into obstacles every day. I have grown to love her.
Declan swoops in at the very end of the last book and you’re left stunned. I grew to love Declan ever since he was introduced. I got the breadcrumbs over the pages and I had a pretty good idea what was to come. I think Declan fits in well and is an amazing character.
I love Chloe and her improved attitude. I remember I used to dislike her a lot. However, she’s made me warm up to her. I honestly can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. Nathan was also another one I had a strong feeling about. He improved as well.
I think this book does a good job tidying everything up and now moving on to the next one. I’m so happy with how this turned out.
Ivy does a remarkable job of not only keeping you interested but making you want more and more. The way she writes is so beautiful. She describes and explains stuff without it being overbearing. She makes the story smooth. The whole story flows well together. I highly recommend picking up this series!
