Publisher Description
Warm beds, quaint mysteries, and the best rosemary bread this side of Pigsend Creek. Welcome to the Weary Dragon Inn.
Bev may not know who she was before she showed up in the quaint village of Pigsend five years ago, but that doesn't bother her much. She's made a tidy little life for herself as the proprietor of the Weary Dragon Inn, where the most notable event is when she makes her famous rosemary bread.
But when earthquakes and sinkholes start appearing all over town, including near Bev's front door, she's got to put on her sleuthing hat to figure out what—or who—might be causing them before the entire town disappears.
Drinks and Sinkholes is the first book in the Weary Dragon Inn Series, a cozy fantasy by two-time award-winning author S. Usher Evans.
Customer Reviews
Good story
The writing is a bit dry, but it’s a curious story and intriguing world the building of all the characters the town and all that was very well done. Not going to immediately get the next book, but in the future, I may decide to follow through as I say it was an interesting read.
Juvenile and Simplistic
This book is so beyond "woke." I 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚 about pronoun choices or alternative lifestyles. I grew up in Chicago and live in San Francisco. There are ways to seamlessly incorporate these into a story line. This author fails miserably.
It's hard enough to follow the storyline and then the author keeps introducing new characters, almost every other page. can't keep them straight.
The writing style is, as noted in the title, juvenile and simplistic, at times a bit baffling. I felt like I was reading a bad young adult novel. Between sinkholes, Royal soldiers, Royal gnomes, a sheriff short a few screws, a pompous mayor and characters flitting around the female protagonist, my brain hurts.
I hate writing bad reviews. An author has put his/her time and heart in writing his/her book, and I respect that.
So, save your hard earned money, or find it offered for free as I did, don't bother. If I could give -☆s I would.
